For many of us, our taste in music is an essential part of our identity – so much that, to a certain extent, what we listen to might be seen as who we are. A lot can be revealed about a person based on the link between one’s personality and music preferences. “Identity across Music” explores this link using music genres and the Myers-Briggs Personality Roles as a base.
The music poster is collage of words that echoes the fan’s thoughts on the genre and displays colors of the personality roles associated with it. The data visualization poster displays the estimation of each role associated within each genre as well as description of the 4 personality roles based a survey I conducted. The prototype site gave users the opportunity to select a music genre and listen to three song snippets and learn how a personality role may correlate to that genre.
